Banking the greenbelt of forest adjoining the Uxbridge Countryside Preserve, artist Shelly Burke works, ripening her vision into fruition through compliant oil paints, while coaxing from the canvas, a bowl of fruit offset by a pair of silver chalices. Visitors to Paris are often overwhelmed by how much there is to see and do. It’s a special city with a special character, but it’s frantic and busy. Make it easy on yourself and save a day for Giverny. It’s an hour’s drive from Paris, but a world away from the chaotic big city. And, getting there is easy. You can take a morning train to Vernon and then board a local bus for Giverny, or alternatively sign up for a day trip offered by one of the many Paris tour companies. The village is charming and dotted with art galleries and artisan’s shops and little cafes, but the main reason for going to Giverny is to see Claude Monet’s house and garden....

Getting a live community theatre show onto the stage is a lot of work. From the initial concept, obtaining the rights from the playwright, booking a theatre, auditioning talent, staging the show, directing, rehearsing, promoting and selling the tickets to the big opening night, working on stage in front of a discriminating audience and giving it all you’ve got, all without getting paid for your efforts. So why do Joe Szekeres, Barb Frigault and Paul Dobbs do it? They do it because they love it and because they help to raise the much-needed funds for local charities....

It’s hard to pin Pamela Mingo down. The vivacious, multi-talented artist has such a long list of creative accomplishments that slapping a definitive label on her work is pretty much impossible. Her twin loves of art and theatre result in explosively bright yet soothingly muted paintings are so rich in texture and form that they seem to jump off their canvases....
